Days 30, 31

Double posts are difficult, cut me some slack.

Yesterday was comparatively uneventful. We rode 65 miles, from Sugar City to Pueblo, CO. I drank 96 cups of coffee at the SC cafe, we first saw the Rockies, ate awesome tofu in Pueblo…that’s about it.

Today, on the other hand, was pretty radical. We left Pueblo around brunchtime and headed into the mountains. The altitude makes breathing fairly difficult but the riding wasn’t bad at all. We climbed a 14-mile mountain, to an elevation of 9000+ feet, which was pretty awesome. We had an 8-mile downhill heading into Silver City at sunset, with an incredible view of the Sangre de Cristo mountains. They look huge, and we’re still at 8000ish feet. The pictures will have to tell the story through the Rockies, though.

We also met another cyclist today, Andrew, heading east from SanFran to NY. He is a super rad dude and his brother is some sort of organic farming organizer in the bay area who may be able to help us out once we’re there. Awesome dude to run into in the mountains. He’s raising money for Lou Gehrig’s disease, check him out @ biketripforALS.com

We have a lot more mountain-y stuff to do, so I need to rest up. Updates whenever I can.

T.
