Day 24

We set off today from Cassoday around 10am, bound for Buhler. We started right away into a 38-mile stretch of nothingness, until we hit Newton. Newton was beyond awesome to us. At first, it seemed to be an average town in KS, just larger. Then, we found a rad health food store, where we meandered about for a while, just happy to be around some real vegan food. We splurged a little bit, just because, and I had the best hummus of my life. As an added stroke of luck, the woman working, Carol, told us her husband was running a bike repair shop out of their garage, and we headed over there. We both got different stems, mine being drastically shorter, Karl’s with a slightly taller angle. The change was unbelievably beneficial for me, and the last thirty miles were a total breeze. We finished up the 73-mile ride here in Butler, KS, with tons of time to kick it (comparatively). This bike-fit adjustment, I’m projecting, will have a profound effect on the speed, distance, and overall enjoyment achieved on the rest of the ride.

Bedtime now, tomorrow it begins!
