Days 22, 23

I wish I could’ve posted a blog yesterday, but my phone was dead. It’s hard to remember what happens in even a single day, and so catching up on two is extra difficult…but I’ll try.

We left Pittsburg, KS in the morning. We got on a road heading west and rode for about 300 miles. I decided to try to even my tan, and now I have black arms, my entire back is red, and everything else is still like that guy from the movie Powder. We mushed on into nothingness after that, and after 74.5 miles, which was passed through counting back-and-forth to a thousand in bad British accents and other cool stuff, we gave up on finding a campsite and knocked on a door. The guy who lived there, Robert, was super awesome and was very accommodating. He seemed excited about our trip and was happy to help us out. It was a good day.

Today we woke up to frigid temperatures and everything literally SOAKED with dew. We took off a little later than usual but made pretty good time. We passed the day through games of “guess how far it is to the crest of that hill over there” and counting backwards from a thousand back and forth in fake British accents. We battled some vicious crosswinds and headwinds today but killed 87 miles. Camp tonight is in Cassoday, KS. It smells like a Jersey pocket in my tent, but I’mma hit the hay.
