Day 20

Today was a mostly uneventful day. We rode a total of 76 miles through our highest points in the Ozarks, then started working our way back down, which sounds like it’d be a lot easier than it actually was. We’ve still a little way to go, but if all goes well, we’ll be sleeping Kansas tomorrow eve.

Although today was pretty chill, there was indeed a twist. We pulled into Ash Grove, MO, around 4:20 PM, ate a little, shopped a little, then went to try to figure out where to camp. Usually, we show up to the sheriff’s department, then they direct us to the best place to camp. We pulled up, but there was no one in the police station. A woman randomly approached us, knowing we were searching for our sleeping place. Then she gave us the keys to a house— a house that’s huge, air conditioned, with a piano, and all ours for the night, free of charge or questions. She never even asked our names. All we have to do is drop off the key in the mail slot at city hall tomorrow. So awesome.

Now it’s bedtime.
